The Sleeping Girl
The Sleeping Girl
I have a lot of old artwork that I’ve kept with me over the years. This was always one of my favorites; The Sleeping Girl. I was about 12 or 13 when I drew her. A lot of her detail has degraded and disappeared over time. After I scanned her years ago, the dark areas became pitch black. She was never this dark. The chair is tufted and her apron is checkered but you can’t see that here. I drew her with a simple number 2 pencil. I don’t genuinely like many of my pieces because they can all be improved on and an artist can’t look at their pieces and not see the glaring mistakes or things they can improve upon, but I wasn’t too hard on this one. Could I improve it? Absolutely, but I won’t. She will stay the way she is.
